Patrick, that was very well said. We are here to share our knowledge and experiences with other enthusiasts to make the sport more enjoyable for all of us and nothing is accomplished by arguing with a teenager, especially one that doesn't even know how old he is. I think the only thing the magazine article can tell us is how fast the one that THEY rode was, not how fast yours or mine actually is. Besides possible variances from machine to machine, there are external factors that affect speed of any vehicle...like barometric pressure and altitude to name a few. Thats why the NHRA publishes correction tables for E.T. and MPH so that an accurate comparison may be made for vehicles that run in different parts of the country. Also, even though most GPS's read in tenths of a mile an hour, I'm told that in reality, they are only accurate to within a half a mile an hour. This is just like the fact that it will tell you a distance in feet, it is not accurate to plus/minus ONE foot. Enough of that.
I am adding a pipe and jet kit to mine and the goal is faster acceleration but with less restriction on air coming in and exhaust going out, I am anticipating an increase in top speed as well. Was this your experience? I personally would not want to change the gearing since I don't desert race and there are more hills than straightaways where we ride in Arkansas.

Big deal on top speed, I agree with others that 300ft drags are were races are won, very seldom can you maintain a top speed of 72mph, besides on a gravel or logging road at that speed it gets alittle hairy at least that's my opinion. It's nice to have a hell of a top speed but think about the carnage it would create crashing at that speed. I would rather have all the torque I could get my hands on.

YamahaOnly posted because he wanted to know what he could do to make his Raptor faster on top-end than what his buddies Banshee is. Nothing wrong with that. We all want to beat our friends. He's not trying to go 100, he just wants a few more MPH and I can understand that. I'm piping and jetting mine, not because I think it will ever be the fastest, but I want to be able to beat the DS and Scrambler that MY buddies have. I have another buddy that put a Ninja street bike motor in a Warrior frame and I have no illusions about keeping up with him, he smokes most everybody in the short drags and this thing can easily exceed 100mph. But hopefully I can be faster than most of the stock Raptors I run across while riding.
As to helping YamahaOnly get a little faster than his friend, I cannot give much expert advice since my Raptor is stock(till my kit comes in), but UBETRUN has suggested a gearing change and that may be the answer for him. Its cheap to try anyway.
