Grizzly burning oil??

Grizzly burning oil??
my buddy owns a 2002 grizzly and as we were changing the oil today we noticed something funny. He is religious about following the owners manual ie. changing fluids, dealer inpections, and all that. We drained the motor oil and all that came out was about 1/4 of a quart of oil. He immediately crapped his pants. Same thing happened when he changed the differential fluids. All together there was maybe a little over 1/2 quart of fluids in the drain pan with everything out of the motor, and differentials. Has anyone ever heard of this or had this problem? He is kind of worried and his dealer is an idiot so I figured I would ask you guys, i don't own a grizzly. Any help would be appreciated. The machine runs great and honestly i am a little surprised that is did with that little oil in it. No warning light or anything ever came on. Thanks in advance.

Mine was leaking oil right after I got it and I crapped my pants too. All it turned out to be was the plug where you line up the rotor for adjusting valves was loose. Scared me pretty good though. I have no idea about that oil burning though. Thats just messed up. Did he change his own oil last time? I would assume he did.

Possibly so, at times you can find some real ignorant people working at service places. And some idiots will at times forget to even put the oil in or think they already did it. One lady where I live took her Volvo (she had a volvo??) to wal mart to get the oil changed. They had some idiot working there that put the oil plug back in with an impact wrench and stripped it out. Wal Mart ate a $800 oil pan on that one.
