They say that the 450 will beat the rappy in most races, EXCEPT top speed where they found the raptor had 2mph more then the 450. BIG DEAL..sprocket change will fix that..

As you know I wondered about that gearing for trails in an earlier post Ridley. I'm sure it's easily fixed by changing the gearing but the yfz sales, at first are going to be racers more and trail riders second. I'm glad I bought my z because my racing career isn't going to work out, at least not organized racing. I'm doing just fine on our new homemade track and saving money running to Daniel Boone or Edmunton every weekend. I've seen the yfz in action now and I know I couldn't take one even if I had a pipe and some light engine mods. There's a lot of variations in stories pertaining to the yfz on here right now. I'm suspecting the haters are trying to make it sound worse than it is and the lovers are hyping it up. Most of the yfz owners like you Ridley and others seem pretty honest about your new quads though.

Have you done any dune riding with your yet?? I've heard both....It is better than the Raptor in the dunes.....and also the Raptor is better in the dunes.

here in southwest va the yfz450 costs less than the rapter. it is only 5600. how much are they everywhere else . if you want to race, get a yfz450. if your just gonna ride in teh yard adn puttputt round the woods get a raptor.

That was the MSRP they had listed on the yamaha-motor.com website when I first heard about the yfz maybe a month or so ago.

I spent all weekend riding with Buddha with his new YFZ at St. Anthony and that 450 pretty much killed everything out there. It is no contest - a piped Raptor is going to get beat pretty bad. I saw it over and over. It consistently beats the piped Banshees too. I was amazed how fast that thing is. Buddha was airing it out pretty hard and the stock suspension seemed to work very well.

Ridley have you dynoed your yfz yet or are you going to? That thread about fmf dynoing it seems like bs to me. I don't remember who posted it but some of the yfz flamers are using it as kinda like a guideline to point out a yfz's stock hp isn't very high. If you do post it so we can know for sure because I still haven't seen a factual post about the stock hp. A piped raptor makes about 38hp or more don't it? I figured the yfz was some where around that or higher.
