Default Griz/Raptor intake, HELP please

I am putting a Lectron (just 1) on my Raptor, but the intake is a problem.

So I talked to my carb guy and he has been doing some checking around. He found a guy that said use a Grizzly intake manifold. But this has come up before and was said that the Grizzly's larger intake port was on the opposite side as on the Raptor making the 2/1 intake manifold not work on the Raptor. I have looked at the schematics on all of the web sites and it does look this way.

Can ANYBODY confirm this 100% for me???? PLEASE!!!
How can I find out, short of buying a Griz manifold and trying it? My dealer is useless so that won't work.

I'm desprate. If I can get the Griz parts to work it will save me over $200.

The same place that had the raptor manuals for download has the 02 grizzly now, I am 99% sure it should show it to you correctly in there. Possibly see what side they refer to for the vaccum readings which is on the left on raptors - the smaller intake.

See if they say its on the left on the grizzly.

Or it may just have better pictures.

Ward, I have the Grizzly manual and really have not found a good enough picture to tell weather or not which side is larger.

Default Griz/Raptor intake, HELP please

I am looking at it now, online. It looks like the larger one is on the wrong side. But my only question is WHY? I am going to go to the dealer tommorrow and see if I can figure something out. Maybe even if it is on the WRONG side I can modify it to work.

Thanks for looking LOWBOWTIE!!!!
And for the manual 007!!!

I would get one and try to port it out . I'm sure your head is way larger anyways on the ports. And as long as its thick enough just hog it out, BTW I'm only guessing that the bolt pattern is the same. Chances are they didn't build a head different from the raptor.

The bolt pattern looks the same comparring the manual to the Raptor head. I think I am going to try it and see if I can make it work.

Any ideas on how to make a port smaller??? I know JB Weld on metal, but what about the rubber intake???

Also I was told in a PM that the angle might be a problem. He said the Griz motor is angled more forward, sooooo this might be a problem too.

On the large side of the intake (IF EVERYTHING ELSE WILL WORK) Would it hurt to port match the intake to the head? Could you make it too big? What I'm saying is making the small port on the raptor the same size as the big one on a Grizzly. Yea I almost confused myself on that one!

Yes that might work, but it might cause problems too. You want it tappered, pretty much, to the valve. I wouldn't really want it to go from small to larger to small again. Plus thats alot of material and I don't know how much room I have before the water jacket or...ewwww I don't want to even think like that.

if the motor is angled more frontward than a raptor and the carb is not a downdraft you should be allright since placing the manifold more verticle would net a more horizontal carb and would work so long as its not "uphill"..

But if the motor was angled more and you put the manifold on the Raptor, would the bend make the fuel have to run "up hill" before going into the head?
