You can get a motel in Rexburg, about 11 miles from the dunes. There's a Super 8 that's clean and inexpensive. If you want to go up Choke Cherry with your Raptor you better have paddles & a pipe & airbox at least, unless you weigh like 140. But if you're stock it's still fun and you can run a lot of dunes. Fairly hot right now, 90's in the afternoon. Watch the weather forecasts for the area, it's not always too hot even this time of year. Monte down at the other campground says he loves ol' Mean Gene cause he chases all that business right down there to him.

Choke Cherry is a serious piece of sand, you come into it from the top so you can check it out and decide whether or not to try. It is a little weak this year though with a funnel starting at the top. Your raptor, or anything needs to be hooking up good or I wouldn't try, plus there are always a lot of guys sitting on top to laugh at you if you don't make it. For a butt puckering experience go ride the deadhorse bowl, it sucks you down big time no matter how fast you go.

I think I heard that choke cherry is 66 degrees vertical. You can't get a run on the hill you almost start from a stop. From thunder mountain back they are the biggest and baddest dunes you will ever see. We rode from camp out to the parking lot by the lake where we had a truck with gas. We then went out via the deadhorse bowl to choke cherry, then to devils dune. After some riding the banshees and 250 R hit reserve, so be sure to watch you gas, it sucks to run out out there.

Well, I have Yoshimura full system, no lid, K&N 160/165, 25, 2.5/2.75, 3rd clip, 12/40 and weigh 190. With some guts, maybe that will get me up the hill, hate the thought of turning it around, and I'm sure people on top would have a good laugh, right along with myself.

What are you running as far as jetting?

Well Happarap you might. The sand's pretty loose now, but I'd say you have a fighting chance. You might want to jet down a little, if you run good at sea level those dunes are 5000 feet and that changes everything. Ya still gotta try--heck I run at it with my 1947 LT 250 Quadracer, sometimes I make it, sometimes I get halfway and gotta turn.

Thanks for the reply on Choke Cherry, I'm willing to give anything a try once, I can hear the motor bogging down now, me yelling, oh crap!!! A 1947 LT250 Quadracer, wow I'd like to see that thing, or do you mean you're a 1947 model, ha ha ha, just kidding.
Again, thanks for the information.
