Default Raptor titanium Rod and other details

Team

My riding buddy Wayne is planning a 686 build up and I just don't like the idea of the stock whimpy rod letting go. W've been told that the Carillo rod is allot heavier than the stock rod, is this correct ?

Information needed that I'm sure you hot rodders know:

Weight of stock rod and stock piston

Weight of Carillo rod and JE 102mm piston

Also been informed that you can get a Ti rod for these engines, anyone used these ?? Where do we get details / price / supply.

Thanks

Kiwi

Here are the Rod weights. Gram for Gram Titanium is 4 times stronger than steel. Hope this helps. Zombie

Ti 254.3
Stock 350.0
Carillo 445.3

Zombie,

IS it best to use a TI rod and a BIG piston to equal the total wieght of the stock setup. So that you get the GAIN of a BIG bore and the stock counter balancer doesnt have to be messed with??? just curious.

Bigger.

Bigger, off the top of my head A JE 105mm is 20 grams lighter than a stock piston. Well I would have the counter balance done anyway, just to be on the safe side. I can ask Robertson what he thinks, all this info is regurgitated from him anyway. LOL. I think you'll be close with the piston and Ti Rod, but your still going to have a vibration. Yeah, i think beins the motor will be all apart anyway just have the Couterbalance done too. Hope I got close to the answer.
