Default Getting Screwed on the 450 sport quad Pricing?

Bend me over, and do me again……..

GOODNESS, they don’t even offer you Vaseline when I was down at the Crooks at Lynnwood Washington Moto-plex after sitting on and asking how much for the new 450 Cramaha sport quad. Sure it’s a sweet machine, but come on!

I’d already figured they’re getting the MSRP $6899, plus our 8.2% sales tax, and yeah I was guessing on a $350-400 destination/freight and Set-up charge just like any other Yamaha product, but noooo. The SET-UP FEE is $750……..that makes it $8500 out the door for that quad! Heck their service rate is $75 an hour, and no way they put more than 1/2 to 1 hour into gasing/oiling/and checking it over.

I looked the sales manager in the eye, and asked “Do you swallow too for that excessive amount?” “Nope” he said with a smile on his face.

“And you don’t even offer me Vaseline when you have me bent over too I guess”

“Nope”, he said……

So what kind of “premium” are the other Dealers gouging for the new 450 sport quad?

I’ll just go elsewhere. It's a nice quad, but not $8500 nice, and I've even got cash in pocket for it.

I thought they only did that in California but if you go to San Francisco I hear they at least swallow.

Tell them if they want 750 to set it up to just give it to you in a crate and youll set it up and pay yourself to do it, since 750 bucks should be enough to make your 2 hours of assembly worth your while.

When I bought my raptor they were trying to charge me all these outrages fee's too. I told the guy I wasn't going to pay for the destination/set-up fee and he just kind of laughed. Once I turned and walked away he knew I was serious...I didn't pay any fee's other than taxes...I paid cash too, so that kind of helps. I'm sure it's not the same with the 450 though...it's a really hot item right now and they are gonna try to make more money out of it...supply and demand.........

Walked around a sharp white one yesterday. The crate had just been opened. That's a ton "o" cash to air up, and install tires, and throw on some shocks. Supply and demand I guess, but rape is another story.

Here in Cali and I'm sure every where else If you want one now you'll pay the $750 or they will sell it to the next guy who is willing to pay it. That's the way it was when I bought my 01 Raptor. I put my $300 deposit down on it on June 21 of 2000 and could have sold it (My place in line for the quads at my Dealership). I had been offored $500 over my$300 for the one I had reserved.

Get on the Yamaha web site and do some dealer searches in other areas of your state and neighboring states. You'll most likely find a dealer that isn't gouging their customers and just make a little longer drive to pick it up.

I paid $6400 plus 6.5% tax and registration for mine.

I'd never pay what you were quoted.. That dealer is acting like they have a license to steal!
