I want to get extended A-arms for my Raptor, but I am not sure if I should get +2 +1 or +3 +1’s. I mostly ride mx, dunes/desert, I occasionally do some trail riding and I love jumping. I’m also thinking about doing some racing (mx) next season. Is there a big difference in handling between the two? I would really like to hear some opinions. Thanks!

 

i've got a set of Lonestar +3 a-arms. i rode pretty much track and pits. handling can't be beat. but its tight in the trails. i've just jumped down to +2 because im doing mostly trail riding now. let me know if your interested in a set of +3 LSR a-arms for $350. they're listed on the garage and swap .

remember, widening the a-arms will also lead you into replacing your shocks and brake lines. so it can get expensive. tehn your gonna need to replace the axle as well.

 

I went with +3 +1 at first, I mostly do Dune riding and it was to wide (with Durablue +4 axle). I would get hung up on razors. I went down to +2 and it worked a lot better. I used the +2 at the desert and it worked real well there as well (never ran the +3 in the desert).

Hey raptorchick, I would definately go with the +2 +1 A-Arms. That is what I had on my Raptor and it helped the handling tremendously. By the way, if your interested in getting that stuff....such as a-arms, axle, shocks, let me know. I have a set of that stuff sitting in my garage that I would make someone a really good deal on.

 

Ridley is exactly right on all points. You will get the best handling with a +0 forward set of a-arms, whether they are +2 or +3 wider. If all you are gonna be doing is sand and MX riding, get the +3, but if you think you want to hit the woods sometimes, get the +2. You would not believe how much difference 2 inches makes when you are trying to fit between 2 trees or stumps. Also the 4/1 offset wheels are the best choice also. You will get much less torque at the handlebars when you hit a rut or bump, and you will have a better steering geometry.

My pick for you would be a +2/+0 a-arm for the wide range of riding it sounds like you want to do. JMHO, but I think you will be greatly surprised be the difference from stock as far as handling goes.

I forgot to mention, if you can get the +3 Lonestar A-arms for $350 like Raptor66RNH offered, go with them! That is like half price of a set of brand new Lonestar arms!

Yeah, I saw the price of new lonestars and $350 is a good deal. Now comes the hard part, I have to convince my husband to stop buying stuff for his quad and start buying stuff for mine! hahaha!
