Need jetting help!

Default Need jetting help!

My jetting is getting closer, but its hard to start when its hot, smokes black when i turn the engine over, and smokes when i free rev it in nuetral and loads up on botttom end, jetting is at 160/165, 3rd notch, 25 pilots, 3 and 2.5 turns out on the pilot screw. No lid, full exhaust, foam filter. What should I do?

BTW if it helps I switched from dyno to gyt-r and on the dyno it ran great it still has the DJ springs and when the dyno was on it was set up with a lid no snorkle, and a one inch hole towrds the rear, jetted at 148/150, 3rd clip, 3 turns out on the pilot screw and 27.5 pilots.

Default Need jetting help!

Sounds to me that you might be a little on the rich side at the bottom. I'm running stock pilots, 2.5 turns out on each and don't have a lick of trouble.

Take a look at the plug. When I was running rich, the metal surrounding the porcelain would be black and sooty and the porcelain would look dark. This will be especially pronounced if you were just riding it at low speeds or letting it idle.

For starters, try turning your fuel mixture screws in and see if that helps. My raptor blows a little bit of black smoke/soot when starting it so I wouldn't worry about your free revving smoke that you're talking about. Same kinda deal here.
