We drove about 15 hours including all the pit stops and it was worth every hour of driving. We always talked about taking a winter trip to Glamis, especially if it doesn't snow cuz my buddies can park their sleds but I don't know if that will happen anymore now that we found St. Anthony's and hearing how it compares to the other BIG places.

I thought Montana meant Mountains in Spanish?? But, unless your already well off, living in Montana could put you in the no money catagory as work is scarce for the most part.

Dumont is somewhat comparable to St Anthonys, They have a small section of large dunes. Maybe 2 bowls compare to St Anthonys, and one stretch of the dunes on the east side is a fun ride somewhat similar to the ride from egan lakes to Choke Cherry only it's much shorter. I guess thats why I like Dumont the best out of the areas close to me.

One day I will live in the mountains north of Ashton Idaho on highway 20 or in the Swan valley near or around Condon, Montana and I'll be able to gloat a little to. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

Okay, you got me, Montana does mean mountainous region in Spanish, I was having some fun. Swan Valley is good if you like to shovel snow and hit deer on the road [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] Sister in law has a cabin on Swan lake, nice nice area. Got some fishies there too. Hey Sixtoe, nice to see you again, missed you at the campground a few weeks back. I drove down there on Monday morning, I kinda lost track of the day, you was gone. We'll have to ride next time you get there. I'm ready as soon as it cools down and I'm back running again. 102 today, bigass fire across the valley raging, everything smells like smoke, typical Montana July which falls between June (COLD) and August (becoming COLD).

Shady, next time we get that way we'll have to get together and ride. Having problems with the quad again? Are you going to fix it up or maybe look at getting something new or newer. I agree with this hot weather, not that great for riding in my book. Definetly looking forward to cooler weather and eventually the white stuff and some ice. When the ice comes its time to do some ice riding/racing which is a blast for those of you who have never done it before.

 

Yeah, it's been giving me fits. Runs real crisp, plug looks right, but bucks and pops on top end like it's way rich. Done everything except replace stator and pickup coil. Got a little more farting around to do before I go there. Pickup coil does read funny on the ohmmeter. But it's so responsive at low end it doesn't seem that should be it. Got a new ignition coil in it. Getting frustrated but can't ride for a while now anyway, the whole area's on fire. Couple kids (firefighters) got burned up yesterday up the North Fork, real sad.

 

You got that right. There's a 7 mile stretch from where we camp and the condon store that we drive to and get stuff when needed. One evening before dark we counted 30, yes 30 different deer grazing in meadows and along side the road. The next day there were 3 dead deer along the roadside. Hope they get control of and put out that fire soon. It may be a natural way of things in the woods and all but it's not as nice for years afterward.

 

They'll burn until it rains, might be September. If they can keep it to low intensity ground fires it's real healthy, but many crown fires sweep whole mountainsides into moonscapes. I won't even ride in this with a spark arrestor it's so dry, and there's a state of emergency don't-do-anything alert on anyway. The pass is even closed from Hamilton south to Salmon because of the fires. They get going quickly here.

Yeah, along that stretch by Condon it's real deer city. Some decent fire road riding up there, big views. You're pretty well schooled on this neck of the woods there, Redskin. There go the sirens again, I better look outside.

just out of curiousity, what jetting are you running on your piped Raptor up at St. Anthony's?

Well, they are both piped. I assume your talking of the Blue one with MBRP slip on pipe. The jetting on that is dyno jet needles, clips on 4th groove from top. Dyno jet mains, 146/148 and no air box lid. St Anthonys is at around 5000' elevation, these are the settings used here in Southern california and I left them that way for this trip. Incase you were asking of my Raptor, the Black and white one. It is dyno jet needles 2nd groove from top (had to move them there to get it to run close to right for this place, didn't bring my jet kits) dyno jets 170/175 and no air box at all.
