Default Banshee stuff

I am looking into buuying a used banshee in the next week or so. I have always ridden 2 stroke dirt bikes, and I had aa blaster a year ago but it wasn't enough. I want a thrill ride and thats what I heard a banshee is. How do they run in the winter if they are jetted right and all of that stuff? Are they easy to start in average wheather conditions? I mostly ride trails that are partially tight, with some open areas. Buy adding some pipes, jets and air filter, bring out some extra bottom end power?
Thanks for any input. I am also considering a 400ex. I only got about 2500 to 3000 grand.

In all honesty, for the type of riding you do I wouldn't recommend a Banshee. I love mine to death but I can tell you that it isn't an easy ride in the woods unless you really know the machine, that is, if you plan on riding hard in the trails. Yes, I know that it can be done because I do it myself so people don't need to reply to me saying that I'm wrong. Anyway, I would stick with a 4-stroke machine because they are a little more forgiving when you're rippin around in the woods. If you feel up to really having to "ride" the machine, then yes definately go with a Banshee with the amount of money you have to spend. You'll love the power.

Thanks toofasttopass, I solved my problem last night and went out and test rode a banshee. I felt it would do what I wanted it to do. I am going to go pick it up this evening. It is an 01' with pro-circuit pipes, boost bottle, it's bored 0.0020 over and ported and polished with wiseco pistons. I think it was a pretty good deal at 3200. Do you think that with all of the head mods would require me to rebuild the top end more often?

Ditch the ladies ride idea and get the shee. WISECO = frequent rebuilds. What model is it?

garyc660r, your asking what model is the piston right, I don't know yet but I'll ask the guy when I pick it up. He said something about getting around a year out of the wiseco's, is he taliking about the rings or something, cause I don''t know that much about head mods yet. how often is frequent on the rebuild? I don't ride extremely hard, so I think maybe I could get a little extra ride time before rebuilds.
Are there any other pistons that I could put in that would require less rebuilds than the wisecos? Thanks anyway, I can't wait to go pick it up tonight, I' kinda scared of it. Do you think it could beat a piped raptor?

I was asking about the bike. Wiseco pistons are not near as reliable as the stock pistons....you will never see a Wiseco piston last over a season before grenading. It should spank piped Raptors. My brother just downed his shee.....3 years on the stock top end ain't bad.

I probably can't put the stockers back in right? When you say grenading, what does that mean, would I have to buy new pistons every season? they are expensive aren't they? the bike is an 01 banshee

Since the engine has been ported i would seriously advised you vs putting anything in there but forged pistons...The wiseco prolites are probably the best pistons outhere for modded engines but it is your Shee and if you want to put some crappy cast pistons in there then you are entitled to.
