I saw an ad on eBay for a 2004 Yamaha Raptor. We've worked out an out-of-ebay deal. The price is tremendously low. However, when he emailed the picture, the color is White with a grey nose. Is this possible for a new 2004 Raptor. He also emailed me the VIN, how can I check it? I cant find VIN places online for ATV's. Please help. Thanks fellow ATVers.

 

it wasnt a generic pic huh? sometimes when people dont have digital cameras they get pics off the web and stick on their item. but i didnt know yamaha made that color for 2004. hes not from a foriegn country huh? ive heard that some overseas deals sound good but they screw you. can carfax check VINs for atvs? i guess call a yamaha dealer or yamaha themselves and have them check the vin. they should be able to do that. if you dont mind saying - what's the price?

I would be extremely cautious about buying it because the factoy colors for 2004 are White/Red and Blue/White. If the deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I would offer to check the frame number for you because I work at a Yamaha shop, but our microfiche doesn't have the 2004 numbers yet. Also, the other day at the shop, I had a guy come in that had bought a so-called "NEW" YZ 426 and he got it home and it wouldn't fire. I guess my advice is to beware.

 

I have the VIN with me, email me if you can check it out. Yea, he is selling it for $2250. Supposedly new, 2004. He said if I wire $1000, he will send ATV, then I just wire the rest. Its coming from Europe. Does anyone know if maybe Europe has different color models/year model? Thanks guys for your help.

yep. STAY AWAY. it is a gimmick. ive heard about this. they all want $1000 first but will never send you anything.

pay a little more from some of the other legit auctions on ebay or go get one from a dealer. at least you will get a bike instead of getting rammed.

 

Stay for away from that joker. He is gonna take your money. Never believe the overseas crap and wire the money on too the seller line. What is his nickname over at Ebay so we can steer clear?

DONT DO IT!!!!!!! It is a scam!!! I think I have seen this guy on ebay before, claiming he was in spain or something with his family. I was trying to buy a big bear 4x4 off this guy for 2000! He wanted to deal outside of ebay, and I refused wire any money to him in spain! I asked him to take escrow, and he denied but insisted I sent 1000 dollars to him. Ask the guy if he will accept escrow
