Default Cleaning the carbs?

I made the mistake of getting carb cleaner on the diaphrams, im going to order new ones weeew, they are expensive. Is there any other rubber parts i should look at while im in there? I used GUMOUT carb cleaner.

Me too...brake cleaner works great.
If the diaphram still looks fine, I would still use it.

Berryman's B12 carb cleaner is safe to use on rubber and plastisized parts. Hey guys, just a note, most brake cleaners use TBE (Tert Butyl Ethylene) as their main solvent. TBE is dangerous to rubber as it is hydrophilic (attracts moisture) and will dry out rubber parts. Most carb cleaners use methylene which is hydrophobic and will not dry out rubber parts.

gumout contains acetone, xylene., methyl ethyl ketone, petrouleum distillates, and propane.

acetone (the evaporator that makes it cool to the touch) and xylene should not hurt your parts. The propane is virtually nonreactive until ignited and is used as a propulsion agent. However, TBE is a petroleum byproduct. I don't know whether that is one of the distillates mentioned or not. Check the can for any warnings about use on latex or rubber. Did what you used harm the diaphrams?

Acetone is VERY bad for rubber and plastic parts,it attacks them very quickly, I would not soak parts down with anything containing that, a quick spray and blow off should be ok. As long as the percentage is very low, it should be alright, just don't let it sit on the rubber and plastic for extended periods.
