Cam Chain Tensioner Gasket - replace every time?
#1
Do you guys replace that gasket every time like the shop manual says?
I am planning on picking up a new one. . . should I get an extra for next time? Any leakers?

I would replace it.
Also, I've got a related question. I noticed that my cam chain tensioner gasket is a little torn. Do I need to do anything special to replace it? If I take the spring out, reset the plunger, etc. will everything stay in time?
Thanks
Matt

I'd replace that gasket everytime you pull the cam...you have to take the tensioner out to reset the plunger as slappie says...I wouldn't worry about having an extra...its not in an area with to much pressure. Any leakes that did pop up could be cured with Hondabond(1104)pretty easily

Thanks guys!
Got the cam in last night, adjusted the clearances on the valves (that's fun - sarcastic)!
Clutch cover is on! Guess I should have read the directions in the shop manual the first two times. Thanks Lowbowtie for the phone tech support! (Almost forgot the little spring piece the last time - glad I hadn't thrown it out!)
Tonight the exhaust (new Yoshi) air filter (new K&N + adapter) and turn her over a couple times then re-check valve clearances one more time!
Getting close to being able to start it up.
All in all. . . not too bad for my first time in this engine. I will be a pro next time I tear into one (hopefully it isn't mine!)
