In case you didn't know, which obviously you didn't, Chevrolet (General Motors) owns Isuzu, and Saturn and Saab....etc.... So you could say that Chevy does make the Duramax.
How do I know you ask??? I am a stock holder. I research before I buy.

The Duramax only has one major downfall. It's made in Japan by ISUZU. So much for Chevy Thunder. They can't even make their own diesal. Oh wait, they did. I believe it was the 6.5 turbodiesal. Otherwise known as the biggest oil leaking, underpowered turd engine ever made. At least Ford(International Harvester) and Dodge(Cummins) kept their trucks American.

When the Duramax parts come in ISUZU packages, I'd say it's safe to say it's an ISUZU engine.

The Isuzu Duramax is fine until you start playing with it. The heads will crack if you try to make power like the Cummins or Powerstroke are capable of.
The Cummins is the best, but the rest of the truck falls apart around it. The Powerstroke is next, and the truck can handle it. The Duramax is maxed out from the factory and I know personally that the GM HD trucks can't even handle a snowplow without replacing every component in the front end from balljoints to the entire power steering system every year.

White347LX- Strange that I have been on thedieselpage.com for a couple of years now and have never read about one head failure (other problems, yes, but not heads). Please tell me where you got your info and where I can read about these failures. I think everyone on the Duramax forum would be interested in it.

Maxed out????????? I think you better do a little more research into your facts there buddy!! Just changing the chip can get you another 100 hp + the torque(?) If any of those are maxed out it would be the new Dodge. We can't even get the more powerful diesel in Cali because it can't meet the emission standards which is due in part to them trying to squeeze max power out of it. And yes I have driven the new Dodge diesel(smaller one) and it doesn't compare to the Duramax or the Ford in pulling power.

wallstreet- Spining the tires isnt the phrase for it. I didnt mention that the camino, is on a 4 wheel drive frame, with 34 inch tires. The 4-wheel drive works too. IM not sure about the lift kit in it ( the guy never told me), but shes hi.
