Default Newbie needs engine advice

I'm working on an '88 Banshee my father-in-law bought to sell.It would not kick start but could pull it off & it would run.Found one cylinder dead, puilled off the cyl sleeves & found 1 piston melted on the side so I have to replace the pistons liners etc.I have NEVER had any kind of motorcycle or atv engine apart before but I am mechanically inclined(I own a performance car shop)My question is:should I replace these w/h a stock bore piston & sleeves or go w/h bigger,say,.020 or .040?Again this is going to be sold so I don't want to spend a great deal of money on it but I do want it right for the person who buys it.
ANY ADVICE on kits, install tips/pitfalls,etc.will help me out greatly,Scott

P.S.I've got my eye on a top end rebuild kit(doesn't include the sleeves though)that is .055 over, would this be ok?
