valve clearance

Default valve clearance

i was reading my warrior manual and i saw that every once and a while u neeed to have vavle clearance adjustment by a yamaha dealer? what is it and would u recomend getting it done....2002 warrior...

The valves tend to tighten up over time and need to be adjusted periodically. i suggest that you learn how to do it if you are capable because Yamaha charges alot to do it.

i will call my dealer and c how much they charge...does ne 1 know what the price range is

Its no difficult task. You take the plastic off where you can get to the motor, take off the valve covers, use a feeler guage and adjust them and put it back together. Get a manual to do it the first time and you can do it yourself for free. It takes me like 20 minutes while being lazy. I think warrior valves get loose instead of tigher like raptors though. So when they are out of spec they get noisy.

jakal where is the idle jet screw located?

idle jet screw is on the bottom of the carb toward the intake manifold, you cant really see it with the carb on, you just have to know where its at and feel around for it. Might have to take the carb off to find it the first time.
