What would you pay for a 01 Raptor (some mods)
Ive looked at online blue books and auction sites to try to get a good idea of what to offer for a 2001 Raptor that a good friend is selling but my findings have been anything but narrow.
The Raptor currently has a non working clutch so thats going to factor into the price, but it has ITP Holeshots on the back, GYT-R slip on and pro-design air filter kit (with a Uni filter I believe), hand guards, nerf bars and a Dura-blue +2/+4 axle.
I want to offer $4000 before any clutch work then I pay for all that myself... do you think I'm crazy and too off base (low)? His first idea was 5000 although that was off the top of his head with no research and I balked at it.
For some reason I just don't feel comfortable going over 4500 for the total cost, including the clutch replacement... maybe I counted too much on a good deal since he is one of my best friends but I certainly wouldn't pay what a dealer would charge me for a used one from him.
I would really like some input from other people ....
Thanks

that page is the prices allmost all dealers use, when they price used bikes, and i would factor about $100 for the clutch if you install it you` self, aout $175 to $200 installed depening on who puts it in

I'd say $4000 is still too much, and I'd laugh in his face if he told me $5000. I just bought my 01' for $3800, and I still think I paid too much for it after all the bearings I've had to replace.(rear axle, linkage, and swingarm.) And I haven't even replaced the top a-arm bearings that are bad yet. I'd have to say by the time I'm all done I will have spent $250 in just bearings!! Be sure like Blastermaster said, to figure in the price of a new clutch and I would lift up both the front and rear end and see if you have play in the bearings. Also what would concern me the most is, if the clutch is bad how do you take it on a test run to make sure that all the gears are funtioning properly? 2nd, and reverse have been known to let go in the 01's from what I hear. I'd be thinking more in the neighborhood of $3500 for it. Just my .03

I bought my 01 last year and paid $3,200, but it was still stock. It sounds like he has close to $1,000 in stuff if you like what he has on it. Does he still have the stock parts? What made the clutch go bad, how did he ride it. Sounds a little scarry. I definately would not go over $3,500 (minus the cost of the clutch) even with the mods, and probably $2,800 as stock. The YFZ has really driven the price down on the Raptor, even new ones are less.
