Be Careful! ATV Scam!
#1
I had a guy from allegedly South Africa that wanted to buy my ATV. After about 3 weeks of email dialogue and arrangements to send me a cashiers check for a returned purchased item, he wanted me to wire him the difference on the cashiers check and he would get back with me to make arrangements to pick up the bike. Everything went OK and I got the cahsiers check which was sent from Maine but from a bank in FL. I went to the bank they wanted to place a hold on the check for two days. Thank God they did. The alleged buyer aka "Alex" from South Africa wanted the returned difference wired that afternoon. The bank called the bank in Fl. ran the routing numbers and the cashiers check was a fake. The police had been notified and are trying to run down the persons involved. Luckily I wasn't out anything, but my guess is that he wanting me to cover the check myself and send him the difference and I would had never heard from him again. He didn't want the ATV he wanted the money. Word to the wise, be vary careful out there. There are alot of creeps out there that are willing to do anything for money.
