Default I have a stupid question

I have a 98 Wolverine. When I turn the air screw OUT am I making it run leaner or richer? It seems to get hot easy and starts bogging when after it gets hot. By the way, I have a K&N filter, stock jetting, and stock pipe. Its done this since I got it new. The temperature light never comes on either. If I let it cool down, it will run OK Any Ideas?

The mixture screw only really affects idle performance. When you get over 50 percent throttle your mixture is done by your jetting and needle settings. I don't really see how it getting hot could be a product of the mixture. I'm pretty sure the wolverine does not have an oil cooler since its based off the warrior and it doesn't have one... you might look into an oil cooler for the heat problem.

I was told that it might be getting hot like that if it was running lean. I turned the air screw all the way in and backed it out 2 full turns. It seems to run better. Yes the Wolverine has an oil cooler. The air screw must have been out 4 turns. I just wondered if turning it in makes it run leaner or richer.

I know that on a warrior turning the screw in makes your bottom end richer. They are probably the same.
