Default Throttle cable too long.?!.?!

I bought a new throttle cable because of the new carb. I think this cable is too long. I can't adjust it and get the outside (the plastic that is actually around the cable) tight against the carb and throttle housing.

Is there anyway to shorten the cable? It doesn't look like it would be to complicated, just cut and weld some kind of ball/stopper on the end. Has anybody done this before?

What about some press on fishing sinkers on the cable up at the bars? This will take up cable length and tighten up the junction between the carb and cable.

Leave it to a redneck from the South to come up with something like that.....I had the same thought.LOL
I don't see why it wouldn't work, it would be easy to shape it to the right size, and you could heat it to make it hold better if need be.

Thanks Gary!

Yep...adding the sinkers up top behind the adjustment ****. Or you could go too the Home Depot or Lowes and get some small metal line with the slit along the side (facilitates getting wire, etc. in the tube in certain siruations), put it on and crimp it together. It's gotta be small enough too fit in between the cable and adjustment **** without riding over.

Just, go buy the ends at a Harley shop or bike shop...they have to make thier own more often because of custom stuff

you can solder it on and away you go...if possible pay them...there are a few tricks to make the cable strong

I see what you mean now. BUT that won't work, I am having to cut and grind out the throttle housing now to make room for the longer pull of the Lectron. The added extra length would get in the way of the side, but thanks for the idea.

Thanks RAPTORJAY, I never even gave that a consideration.
