Default Paddles- How Tall? How Wide? How Many?

I'm looking to run a pair of Skat Trak Extreme haulers on a piped raptor @ 4500'. What are the pros & cons between 20x10x10 & 21x12x8. 8 or 9 paddles??

I can tell you from personal experience at 4500ft on a modded raptor. Get 21x12x8" extremes with 8 paddles, if you want to fly. I shouldn't tell you this though, since I've been runnig my KFX700 lately. But it's the best setup we've found.

I'm running 22x11x8 8 paddle haulers on mine and I love them!

Default Paddles- How Tall? How Wide? How Many?

This is a subject that needs review... I have a DS with 20x10x10s haulers on it and I have a hard time on the very soft sand on the top of large dunes. If it's not pointed down hill when I stop there is a good chance that it will dig in right there. My girlfriends warrior has 22x10x10 haulers, I know it's allot of tire.. blah, blah. She can tractor through anything.. I know, it's a lighter bike. I was also looking at the 12" wide 10 paddle extreme haulers for my DS, I think that in order to navigate some of the fluff I could use as wide a tire as I can get. I have heard that this would be "too much tire" but I think that is probably a drag racing opinion. I get tired of lifting this thing out of the sand if I happen to have to stop on a slight uphill. I may try the wider tire for next year, maybe even the taller hauler.. Any opinions??

I forgot to mention our rappy is geared down. But I think 21 extremes are the best regardless of gearing. They are soo much faster than the 20 haulers. My 700 was edging our raptor. THen we tried the 21's. Crap. The 700 lost on the hill, by a good margin. Now I'm back to modding the 700. Failure is not an option lol. And our raptor seems to outrun other raptors with pipe/airbox mods very well.
MY 700 has 22" haulers. That seems like a good size for a DS too.

SpinCycle, I think you would be really happy with 22x11x8 (8 or 9 paddle) Extremes. I bought the 9 paddles for my banshee and I will never go back to the 20x10x10's. The spacing (about 8 inches apart) between the paddles of the 9 paddle 22" is about the same as the 8 paddle 20". You will also probably want to drop your gearing down a tad when going to the 22's unless you are already geared lower than stock.

I already dropped the gearing... lots. Watching my girfriend with a stock warrior plow through even the softest sand with hardly any wheel speed is really what I want to do for the bomb. I'm sure she loses something in speed with the huge haulers on her bike but it's not like she is in the warrior world championships or anything. This got me to thinking that because she is so timid with the throttle that the 10 paddles work so well for her, she can stop mid hill and just pull away when she's ready. I'm not sure that if she had 8 paddles on 22" tires that it wouldn't take some more wheel speed to do that. I think to get the bomb to do that it would take a set of padala tracs off the back of a buggy, but the 21x12x8 10 paddles may be ok. I'm just not sure that the fast setup for drag racing makes for good dune riding, most people will tell you that you will lose so many lengths by going with a larger tire. I just don't like having to always point the bomb downhill so I don't get stuck.

SPINCYCLE-I am running 8 paddle haulers in a 22-11-10 size and they work very well in the soft sand on my baja so you should have similar results on your machine.i tried getting away cheap with some 20 -10-10 sand devil 8 paddles but they are now my back up set if that tells you anything.at least in my opinion the 22-11-10 would work well for you and they will help to get out of the soft stuff and get on top much easier than a 20 inch tire.

The haulers I have do a good job, I just want more I'll try some of the 22s after this winter. I think that will do the trick.
