Hey you guys know air cooled machines such as my Wolverine, there are fins on the head and cyl. head, well in between the fins there are little rubber circles that are called absorbers when you bring them up on Microfiche. What is the purpose of there things to stop virbration? And is it ok to leave them off?

they serve two purposes:
1. they keep the fins from snapping when hit by debris such as gravel
2. they keep the fins at a uniform distance from one another to keep cooling consistant - i have had an air cooled 4 storke where i bent one of the fins and it would over heat quicker.
