Can anyone out there reccommend a gun rack they are happy with?

 

Pack Rack in Cabelas's or Bass Pro. I like them.

 

I bought the Y shaped rack with the rubber snubbers that flip over the gun. It works great. Got them at dealer for $24

 

I bought two sets from Cabela's, the "Y" shaped things called Fin Grips I believe, that attach with small u-bolts and have the bands that secure stuff. Around $25/pr I think. They seem well made and sturdy, but they wore the bluing on the barrel of my son's .308 cruising around last weekend. Can't be avoided bumping around, no fault of the rack, but you'd want to take some extra precaution with anything that had a fancy finish. Next time maybe we'll try a separate piece of cloth tightly wrapped around and see if it helps.
There might be some circumstances where the fully enclosed scabbard thing would be better.
