I know this isnt kawasaki or suzuki but those forums are a little small so since this is a bigger forum i was hoping you yamaha guys could answer my question. I tried posting on other forums but didn't get many responses. I was wondering what sort of air filter i should get if i ride in some dusty conditions and a little mud, but most of my riding is done in the woods. Any responses i would be most greatful for. Thanks

Don't know if people will agree or not... but if you are going to be doing alot of trail riding, I would go with a foam filter like "UNI", but I personally run the K&N with an outerwear, but then again I do mostly drag racing.

I run my wifes Z with the stock air filter, no lid, and full HMF pipe. But then again it is also used for mostly drag racing.

Hopw this helps you out.

ProFlow is what I was trying to think of When I said Uni.. It is the other one that is supposed to be pretty good. They are both the FOAM style filters.

Almost all of the trails I ride on are dusty as he!l. So if you're not in front you're literally breathing dust. And so is your quad. I have K&N filter right now with the outerwears and I have never had any problem with the intake. When I'm riding in those dusty conditions I have the lid on. The filter has always been fairly clean when I take it off the next day. But I always wash it and oil it after each ride anyways. Never ride with a dirty filter! I've never had a UNI filter so I cannot say whether I would try it or not. I'm sure TheRaptorMan knows what he's talking about though. But as for muddy conditions I think a K&N with outerwears would be the best choice for that condition too.

I would go with teh K&N w/ Outerwears, but thats JMO.

Good luck with whatever you choose! And come back to the Yamaha area if you need any more help. You're right these people are really helpful!

For dusty conditions foam is the only way too go. The K and N will suck dust....do a little research under the search feature. Uni makes an excellent, proven foam filter.
