Default Bear tracker problem

My buddy has a 01 bear tracker, we went out ridin one day and he was goofin around and hittin the starter button barely just to make the starter engine to turn over for about 10 seconds. The next day his neutral light wouldn't come on and his electric starter wouldn't work. Is his starter burnt out or a sensor or something is out so the electric start won't work. Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are you sure the transmission is in Neutral? If it is and the starter still won't crank, pull the left hand brake lever in and try to start it. Doing this allows the bike to start in gear and allows you to bypass a problem with the Neutral indicator switch. If that does not work it is possible that the battery needs to be recharged. It is possible that you cranked the starter for such a long time that you drained the battery, which would probably be your problem.

I had a beartracker, too, and im here to say if your neurtral light doesnt come on, it is EXACTLY what patrick stated. There is a black wire that connects on to the bottom of the tranny that is very prone to falling off. Find a way to make it stay on. Also, your buddy can just pull in the emergency brake from any gear to start the quad.
