Grizzly submarine???

Just come back from Marienville. A few questions for Grizz owners. Swamped the new grizz (end of timberline)and stumbled the way back to main lot at 15 mph. Found out mud/soup got into belt box. (But it drained without problems at timberline.) "Soup" packed up inside clutch housing and would not let the clutch expand with increasing revs. Why would Yammie engineers design a clutch cover with and o-ring seal and several brass washers and screws to seal out muck? One problem, they put a big hole in the middle of this "seal plate" for access to the clutch nut.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This sealed in the mud thus no clutch action!! Go figure!!!!!!!!!!
One more question, what grizz mods are worth while, not just a "psychological feel good" but actually give you a bang for your hard earned bucks $$$$$$$

Not a Grizz owner but... The clutch housing has to have openings for cooling, 1 for air in 1 for air out. It should not have got in around past the seals etc. maybe through the intake?

I take it you tried to cross that big pond, on the right side of that hillclimb, on timberline? Every time we ride to the pond, we sit and watch. Sooner or later someone tries to cross and drowns out. It never fails. It gets deep real quick there.

As the primary sheave expands and contracts from the engine RPM the sheave needs to breathe. If the sheave was sealed it would not be able to compress the sealed air to expand, or it would vapor lock apon return. Another reason is to cool the sheave weights and lube. If Yamaha wanted they could have sealed the sheave for a fraction of the cost of the doughnut shaped cover that they use. The idea is to keep the water and mud out of the belt housing in the first place.
