Purpose of the rear suspension link?
#1
Has anyone removed it from a Raptor? What's the purpose of the link? I'm waiting for a couple of parts to complete my new swingarm install and wondered what would happen if I removed the link and bolted the bottom of the shock directly to the swingarm. Thoughts?

Your stock shock will be WAY to soft to use it directly. Also, wheel travel will be greatly limited. The link systems create a mechanical ratio between the swingarm movement and shock movement. Using the link system allows for a shorter and softer shock (also cheaper). Depending on your type of racing and the shocks you run, direct is normally better. Some drag racers have said that direct gets uncontrolable at high speeds, although I run direct on my TT banshee at speeds above 80mph without problems.
It is a quick way to lower you bike though.

When I started typing my reply, no one had posted yet. It took me awhile to type it.
I wish I would I could have came up with a quick wise-a$$ reply
