Honest question for raptor owners
Wistech, good question bro. I was actually thinking the same myself. You would think a 660cc four stroke would be all everyone talks about, but I actually rarely hear about them. And you would THINK that Yamaha's 450 four stroke would be significantly slower than a 660 four stroke, when in reality it is a lot faster (atleast that's what I've seen). About how much $ minimum to really wake a Raptor up? I know they have a ton of potential, I just don't wanna spend all the money on one, and then not even have decent performance out of the box. I'll be looking to trade in the 300ex in about a year, it is waaaaaaay too slow.

Honest question for raptor owners
Sometimes i think the same thing.... but them i have a night like tonight...
1st Moto-Electrical failure, came back from 9th to finish 2nd
2nd Moto-Took the holeshot, lead every lap, won the race
The Raptor DEFINATELY has potential. If you work on it's handling a LOT, and open up the potential of the 660cc's, its seriously one of the more unbeatable quads. BUT, it does take a lot of investment to make it into something spectacular. How can you beat that low end grunt that the Raptor has? Ive riddin some Z440's, 440EX's, YFZ450's, and not sayin that i rode them as hard as i could, but i really missed te power of my Raptor when i was riding them. Now, you can have a MUCH better race quad dollar for dollar with, say, a YFZ. But, i like the challenge of doing stuff people dont normally do, and really, there arent that many SERIOUS MX Raptors. Its all an opinion thing. In all honestly, why worry about how good stock for stock is? If you keep your quad stock, chances are you dont really care THAT much about the power, and just like something that you can go pretty fast on, and have fun with. The ones who are looking for all the power and handling are the same ones who pour money into their quads. Just food for thought.... ahh, digestion....
