modified raptor vs. modified 450

ok i tell you what, you guys all think that the YFZ is pretty much maxed out from the factory without a lot of room for improvement right? granted you all know there are a few options, not what you think you can get with a raptor. i totally understand, but i'll make you this deal, dollar for dollar i'll make more horsepower with a yfz then a raptor.
granted you can obtain alot more cc's from a raptor, but about the only you're obtaining is torque with all that CC's. and you only have so many rpm's to work with on the raptor, and the bigger you go on the raptor the less the useable rpm range becomes.
so know you've got a maxed out ripp snortin raptor 770 right? makin 60 hp and a redline of 7200 rpm.
now i have a not even maxed out yfz 470. with even more room for improvement. making 60 hp and a redline of 10,000+ rpm.
which one do you think will win a drag race and why?both riders being equal of course.

Yamaha660R,
Im starting to think u dont know jack about quads. First of all in another topic u said that there is NO WAY a 400 class bike can beat the almighty Raptor. LOL! Then you say a Trinity 727 puts out 70 hp yea right. Face it YFZ is the present and future no if ands or buts about it!

i want to know how he bored his bike because yamaha did not make the 450 to take that size sleve a 470 the jug is tiny on that thing it and it has a kevlar sleve. it can be done give it time and we'll see 1000cc raptors and 700cc 450s. doller for doller the 450 has more bang for the buck to a point about 55 hp but the bar is very low right know give it time but as one bar goes higher so must the others. The bar for the raptor is very high and the banshee bar is in outter space some were. what i want to see "and this is an idea for craycraft" is a 727 turbo raptor running on NOS and 5% nitromethan. bob i think this is a good idea for my bike but the i want to leave the turbo off cost to to great.

If you're gonna quote magic dyno numbers for your YFZ, then please do the same for the Raptor. As for a Raptor being maxxed out at 60 RWHP, mine's already doing those numbers with unmodified stock carbs and a mild cam. And that's on a real world Dynojet dyno. Also, according to my last dyno sheet, my Raptor's power doesn't start to decline until after 8500 RPM. And then it just gradually starts going down. Kinda blows your 7200 RPM redline theory huh?

I raced one with a GYT-R slip on, no airbox, and jetted. In a short drag, about 200 feet, he had me by 1/2 a quad. For the first 100 feet, he had me by a full quad. I don't know what would have happened if we had another 100 feet but I would not put money on the outcome, it would have been that close. My Raptor is no slouch, a 686 12:1 Hotcams Stage 2 Craycraft with FCRs. The YFZs are fast, no doubt about it. On the MX track that day, NOTHING could come out of the corners as fast.

After the 300 foot mark, you're Raptor probably would've started to pull away from the YFZ at an alarming rate. 1/8 mile drag racing on pavement, with Hoosiers, is where these drag races need to be held. 300 feet is too short for a built Raptor to overcome it's traction losses. Torque wins drag races.

Aw jeez, I knew this thread would get a little sideways. I love those YFZ's, rode one, raced a couple, they are the ultimate (at this moment) mx quad. Yes you can ge a bunch more power out of one, for a price. But simple physics say the bigger the air pump the more you can get from it. Pro Stock drag cars don't run small blocks, they go mountain motor.
Yes, I know, engine design comes into play, how much you air can get thru the head, how much rpm the bottom will hold. But the Rappy is a 5 valve head, and even though a rocker arm motor still turns pretty good rpm. No, the Raptor won't handle as good, ever, as a YFZ. But that's a different discussion.
