Default modified raptor vs. modified 450

I cant decide to sell my raptor for a 450 or kepp it and modify the motor. I would think a modified raptor would be faster then a modified 450 due to the fact of its larger displacement. The most a 439 could really be is bored to a true 450 where a raptor can be bored to a 686 or 727. the diference in handling can be changed drastically on the raptor with wider a-arms and axle with better shocks. i know from expereince stock vs stock the 450 is faster. I guese my question is "DOESN'T THE RAPTOR HAVE MORE POSSABILITIES". I beleive it does.

for all out drag racing yes, there is no replacement for displacement, and 727 isnt the largest you can go on the raptor you can do a 770 all the way up to 8??

um why couldn't you bore out a 450 more just a question i'm sure most ppl won't go over a 450 becuase of racing but i don't see why a 450 couldn't be made into a drag machine its light and allready pretty fast with just a pipe...just my 2 cents

there just isn't much left to do on the YFZ. It has an FCR, high compression, and decent cams so whats left bore it i guess but the YFZ is beefed right off the floor.

Raptors have more possibilities...and that's just that. You can build a Raptor to crush a 450 and that's just the facts...I'm sure people will argue and complain about it all day, but it's just the facts. The 450 is faster stock...but when it comes to mod's...the Raptor will eat the YFZ.

And a buddy of mine just bought a Raptor...$5994 out the door....the YFZ cost 7300+ out the door, and you can mod the Raptor from there to match the price of the YFZ and run right with the YFZ.

Just some facts.

i detect a quite a bit of biased opinion here.
the only feedback is from raptor owners. granted the raptor can be built to be a very fast machine,i have seen very fast raptors, in fact we had a local grass drag yesterday and i had an oppurtunity to watch and race the fastest that were there.
not a single raptor got within a bike length of me at the finish line.i was running 5.1's at 59mph all day consistently in 300ft hardpack.i even dipped into a couple 5.0 passes. i was having a hard time hooking on the hard pack.
anyway,i just paid $6300 OTD for my YFZ450. and for the extra $400 i paid over a raptor it was money well spent. i won't have to spend thousands on the suspension to make it handle, and i have about $800 in my motor so far and theres not many rappies that can put down the dyno numbers i'm pushing right now.
and i will say go with the yfz450. it has every bit as much potential for motor mods as the raptor, does and the motor work won't cost as much becuase it won't need as much to go as fast or faster then the built raptors.

$55 and the raptor will handle like a dream.

and I haven't seen a yfz under $6899

and that's without tax and title fee's

I see your point killer but the original question was power potential with 2 or 3 grand to spend. My point is that you won't get a ton more from the already highly tuned YFZ as opposed to the large amount of room to grow starting with a low compression Raptor. Say your compression limit is feasibly 13-1, well you go up just over a full point with the YFZ, where you go from what, like 9.4 stock on the Rap? And the Raptor has relatively tame cams stock while the YFZ has more agressive cam profile. So my humble opinion will remain that the bigger engine has more power potential. Potential for more improvement, and potential for most overall power output.

But of course with a big enough pile of cash you can build anything into something that'll scare ya.
