I dont believe in your tolerance theory, I would have to see proof of this, not just assumptions. Of course, "***" is the keyword to assumption.. I have an 01 with 02 gearset... Did the tranny and engine myself and have not had a single problem. My 01 seems to be holding the 56hp like it was designed too. Since the whole package did come from a street bike with over 50 horses.

fortin does make raptor gears.they are known for taking problems with trannies and redesigning them with an improved heavy duty system.i've talked to doug fortin about it and they made alot of changes to the dogs and type of gears and the metal the are made from etc..fortin stuff is made to last and hold up to more than you can give.i dont believe they are handling the retail end of the raptor stuff though.i think sam coe handles it then does the installation.

IMO that was causes the failures in the 01 is the three dogs on the gears. Fortin has a set up with 3 dogs (to keep the 01 gear ratio) but a stronger material and IT FAILED for many people, one i can name off the top of my head is Goochy from BT and another person that posted on here.

I have personly seen two 01 Raptor trannys grenade. Both in the sand and both were caused by the 2-4 dogs breaking. One Raptor had our local dealer repair it to stock, (granaded again next trip to dunes ) the other I put in an 02 tranny and is working just fine 6 months later.
