Default Need more power?

Im am going to order a JE 10.75:1 686 piston and along with a stage one hot cam. I dont want head porting now but i want to know if this will help me beat those pesky banshees with the bolt on stuff. I do alot of drag racing but I dont want a drag motor, i want a good all around motor. Also, will a good machine shop do my piston ring clearance? Also, what jetting should I run, I have the mods listed below.

I think it will.........I am running a stock bore version of what you have........and I smoke mild banshees........
I would recomend a different cam though.......if you do a lot of drag racing that is.........
I don't feel that the stage one hot cam has enough top end.........

I would also recommend another cam especially with the 14/40 gearing you're running.

I like power wheelies like in the upper gears too like 3rd or 4th. What cam do you reccomend, i dont want a stage 2 with stock carbs or a 11:1 piston.

I run a 12:1 with stage 2 and FCRs. Very rideable, good bottom end. A bit more investment than what you probably want but you wouldnt believe the difference. Buy it one piece at a time and then do your mods. You'll save money over buying parts that leave you wanting more then buying the stuff you really want. Now only the really well worked Shees get me and I can still ride trails although it is more tiring now.

What your doing will beat the piped/jetted and mildly ported shees. The stage 1 will be fine and you should run a 180/185 gytr jet with that setup.

Thats what i needed to know, I just want piped, mild port maybe shees. I need a good machine shop around here, I havent talked to hiram on where he took his, but should I be looking for experiance?
And also what about the ring clearance, will they do that as well?

I would think the place that is capable of doing your boring and honing would be able to get the piston to wall clearances and check and adjust ring end gap for you. Ask them about it, tell them the clearances you want and if they look at you stupid like then move on to the next shop.
