My guess is that Yamaha will throw your file into the same bin with all of the thousands of 2001 Raptor tranny files, and they will never look back.

It sucks your new quad is fubared

Not to mention you're running with no fan.
By "no fan" your implying that heat had something to do with it. The machine had been running (moving) maybe 10 minutes @ ~65 degrees. I had just taken a slow lap around camp as a warm up. I then left to out in the sand and the nuts fell off. There's no way the machine was too hot.

I'm not implying that it was too hot. If yamaha knows you had no fan and the cam timing retarded etc they will take that and run. I just feel with Yamahas track record and what you have done to your quad in mods they will not honor your 6 month warranty. Since you had your dealer do all the mods that you've done, maybe they will honor their work and you'll still get it fixed for free or close to it.

I'm just real curious over what gave. I'm sure you will give us details when the carnage is revealed. I wonder if it's the rod, or tranny. Or a dropped valve.

Maybe a piece of my 250 you sucked into your tailpipe on Choke Cherry hill came loose.

selector, do you think the timing advance had anything to do with this? or maybe something has wedged the valve open. i had a nut down my tube and wedged my exhaust valve open. what ever you do don't try to start it, only make it worse, any way good luck

Dunno .. the thing just wouldn't Run for more than 15-20 before it died and wouldn't start again .. When it actually did run it cut out real bad and lost all of its power and wanted to choke out ..i had the mechanic reverse everything that was done to it - cam mod, pipe , jetting , he even double/triple checked the carb to make sure it was getting fuel and he replaced the coil/cap assembly and yet no luck it was doing the same thing ..

Do you guys think that Yamaha will have the problems with the yzf fixed in the next couple years? I was gonna get a yzf instead of my 400ex but I assumed that there will be alot of problems with that quad the first year so I opted with the ex. Maybe in 3 or 4 years this will be one very solid quad with not too many known problems???

I would be shocked if Yamaha stands behind it.....hope your dealer makes things right with you since they done all the work. What kind of fuel were you running with the 13/1 piston?

this is why heavy mods are not exactly the best idea, its like turning ur machine into a 2 stroke, it wont last for a ****
