aftermarket radiator for banshee
#1
Any of you guys buy an aftermarket radiator to keep your shee cooler? Do you think its worth the $? Also considering a Pro Design cool head or some finned head I saw in James Lucky, maybe combination of both the head and radiator. Got a problem with alot of boil over. Appreciate your opinions on how to keep the shee cooler.

my buddy bought one of those toomey raditors and it helped out a whole lot he said this raditor is so big that if you ride in the winter your suposed to put cardboard on it so your engine will warm up we were out in silver lake in like 100 degree weather and it didnt even sputter once with that raditor it is at least 1 to 1 1/2 times bigger than the stocker so id say they are worth the cash.

Thanks for the input Trencher. Anybody else use the Pro Design cool head, other head heat sink or in line cooler. I know its not as exciting of a topic as coke or pepsi but no one on this forum has done any successful cooling mods to their shee's????

I just received my November issue of ATV Sport Magazine. They had an article about Engine Ice, Water Wetter & Purple Ice.
The Water Wetter and Purple Ice performed better but do not contain anti-freeze. These two dropped temps about 12 degrees while riding. After stopping (and I assume with the bike idling), the temp dropped another 13 degrees . (The stock coolant showed no drop while resting.)
Engine Ice dropped the riding temp about 7 degrees, and the "after stopping" temp was down another 8 degrees. Engine Ice is claimed to be good to 27 below zero.
I personally would consider a 60/40 or 70/30 water/antifreeze combo before I would spend the money on these products. But, if and when I have another Banshee, I will be going to the larger aftermarket radiator.

I run engine Ice in both of my banshees. My trail bike would get HOT in tight woods (never out of first, always on the clutch) and start sputtering until I changed from 50/50 to engine ice. I don't have a temp gauge, but I feel there has to be more than 7 degree difference. Both of my banshees have aftermarket heads. Trail bike has a trinity, race bike has the new NOSS machine Super cool head. If you buy an aftermarket, this is the one to get. www.nossmachine.com. It uses stock studs and pro design domes. Can't really say if it keeps it cooler, but with the head it will hold more water.
