Raptor Head Light Problems
#1
I just did my first night ride on my 03 Raptor, and after about 15 minutes the head lights went out. What happend was the light bulbs apperantly got too hot and came unsoldered from the retaining ring that holds them in place. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Or any suggestions on what it could be. I have done no modifications to my Raptor. It is 100% stock.

I added the Trailtech lighting (and Speedo) kit from Rockymountainatv.com, and I swear I'll never use the stock one again. I put the trailtechs on the low beam ckt (great idea from another forum member) and left the stock lights on the high beam ckt. WOW what a difference.
I'll probably end up removing the stock ones altogether, depending on how long the trail techs hold up...

VegasRaptor, this is what happened. When you turned your lights on you probably had the switch stuck between your hi beams and low beams causing the bulb to get really hot and melt the solder causing it to fall out. The Grizzly has the same problem. Next time make sure the switch is on hi or low.

I had that happen to me, was riding one night and then one light went out...you could see the bulb inside the lens rolling around. Went to the dealer and the bulbs are $11!!! So now I got some trailtechs that go on the handlebars....havent put them on yet but they look BAD! and for $150 its a pretty good deal!

A friend of mine has replaced them 3 times. The bulb breaks out of the socket. If you talk to the dealer, They know its a problem but yamaha will not admit to it. It may have to do with the way they are mounted. they get alot of vibration. The dealer also suggested to take a look at the rubber grommet to make sure it is not dry rotted.
