Default Alky Question?

How often must you change your oil when you run alky? I've heard that if you went out for the weekend you should change it every day, Is this right? Or what type of interval would one look at? Every 6 hours, 8,12,ect.... Please let me know so I can make an evaluation on weather to change over.

Default Alky Question?

IMO it depends on how your carbs are set-up. With my stockers converted it would milk the oil more quickly than with the Lectron. I could easily do 2 days of drags and not be worried one bit with the stock carbs.

Default Alky Question?

Why is this?

Ward- Do you flush your machine out with gas after you ride? Also, do you run a top lube?

Default Alky Question?

Why? Because volume wise it take alot more alky than gas with the same amount of air. This leads to some of it going by the rings.

flush? Yeah try, I haven't had very good luck trying though. Something always happens. I will spray the inside down with WD-40 or something similar. No problems yet.

And the methanol I buy from my VP distiruter already has top end lube mixed in with it, so I don't have to worry about it. I need to get a drum of it though. This 7 gallons at a time is a PIA.

I can't give a 100% accurate answer to any of those questions, but I will give the best I can.

First the stock carbs modified to alky:
Not very long, but I had float/needle & seat sealing problems
A good bit, umm, maybe 3 or more bike lengths in 660

The Lectron
ALOT better milage, I rode for about 3 hours and had roughly around 1/2 a tank.
Not sure about hp. I picked up one full gear (from second to third) on the starts. That says a good bit to me.

You can do a search for Lectron and my name and find a little better reveiw of this carb set-up if you like.

Default Alky Question?

Sandjunky, NO problem, just glad I could offer some help.

I have NO clue about N2O. The said half gas and half methanol.?.? That would be a pain, two fuel tanks. YUCK.

I do know this: alky requires twice the amount in volume as gas. This means that you would need to multiply the diameter of the fuel jet by 1.5 (NOT 2 like you would think). Maybe you could try that and see how it works. Its all about surface area. Doubling it is not does not increase the flow by two times. A 50% larger diameter is approximately close to doubling the flow.

Sand Junkie, what kind of comp/ratio do you have? Do you run a stud kit?
