Default Banshee VS. DS-650

today me and my friend were pulling the GPS on a FMF riva pipes,v force reeds, k&n filter no lid and a 16/39, shaved heads, porting, stock pistons and we got 99 mph with 6 ply r/a tires. I loved the thing it flat out ripped thats why the rappy is going, and like Hiram says the sky is the limit on a banshee and it takes lot less money and parts to go fast. I LOVE THE BANSHEE!

If your worried about parts and costs then the banshee isn't for you. You have to rebuild the banshee top end every couple hundred hours to maintain its performance level. I own an 04' DS650 baja X and with the simple addition of a one size up front sprocket (17 tooth) and Ron woods heavy clutch springs I am pulling 81.9mph and getting there faster than a piped raptor or a very mildly piped and modded banshee. My DS for all intents and purposes is stock, and I haven't lost to a stock Banshee yet. The 04' DS's are slightly smaller and lighter then previous years and don't have to be rebuilt every couple hundred hours. The simple fact is that ths DS 650 IS the fastest high performance sport quad currently made, period. I don't care if you throw the little YFZ 450 or the soon to be released Honda or a Raptor or a banshee, they will lose to a DS650 if they are stock. No if's ands or buts about it, that is a fact! If you want something smaller then the DS and you want a fast machine Go with the YFZ or the raptor they are good machines. The raptor has better suspension than the shee and is just as fast stock. same for the yfz.

Think about it though, banshee's are high performance quads and need special attention, but also think that an hour is when the engine is under load, and that 200 hours is alot of hours that you may do in a year, unless you ride everyday 2 hours straight but for every weekend warrior this my take awhile.

Say you only ride once a week. And you ride for 4 hours each time. times that by 52 weeks and you have 208 hours. If you are the type of person who is going to buy a quad like the Banshee I would say that you would easily surpass these numbers. Time to rebuild about every year. If not pistons and rings, then at least just rings for preventitive maintainence. If you can't do it yourself like 90% of the population then it will cost you at least $300- $400 every time.

i can see your point Cop... listen i live in israel and we dont got yfz rapy we barely got 10 illegal banshees here which i want to buy 1 of them so i dont got alot of options like you do
we got only bombardier polaris and artic cat around here... i wanted a smaller and light quad than my ds
so i though of the banshee cuz i dont got other options (we got quadracer's but those got a fuc#ed up frame and engine) ... but the speed stuff is still important i cant leave a darn fast quad like my stock ds to a slower quad so i wanted same speed quad but smaller and i said BANSHEE! and i need your help guyz to tell me if the stock banshee is fast as a stock ds... and by the way Cop my stock ds got rear tires 22' and its all STOCK and it does 80mph...
got no mods in it !

A piped DS will win a piped (Toomeys) Banshee in a drag... In my own experience... I also raced a piped/jetted/boost bottled (FMF Fattys) and won by a margin that most people would be proud of...

Rebuilds are cake on a 2stroke, and if your a "do it yourself" person it will actually be less than $200 and that includes gaskets and bearings, honing and new pistons.
