Default My Calf is Cookin' on my YFZ

I'm used to quadzilla, and new to these fango dango 4 strokes... and I'm burning my right calf on the exhaust pipe, and I'm not even pushing this thing. The heat shield is inadequate. Anyone have a fix for this? When I get an aftermarket pipe, will ceramic coating help this issue, or is there a better heat shield? HELP! OUCH!

Thanks.

or wear pants. I dont sit so far forward on the seat that I get near the pipe? riding on the tank/front of seat hurts, no padding there!

I have to agree with the boots, plus your a whole lot safer with them.

If you take your spark arrestor out it will help quite a bit.

I noticed the same thing on my YFZ....I have the tech 8 boots and wear race pants.....still hot. I haven't heard about any mods but I was thinking about putting that exhaust heat shield wrap around the header.....has anyone done this yet or is it a bad idea?

rejet it and that helps ALOT. they come real lean from the factory to meet emission standards. taking the cork out of the silencer helps too.

I have used "header wrap" on my truck's headers and have not had any problems. Ive heard that header wrap can cause the tubes to "cristalize" or something. Automotive header manufacturers dont recommend using them and actually void ur warranty if you do. I think you can get away with some header wrap just behind your leg, no biggie.

I have the same problem with my Predator even with full riding gear I have to stick my knee out once in a while when riding to cool the inner part of my leg.

I will be sending my head pipe to Jet Hot to have it ceremic coated. They have one coating that looks almost like it's a polished pipe.

These newer machines run quite hot!
