Ya get what you pay for. Remember that. (Speeking of my Blaze) Don't expect a handmade in the USA, hand-welded aluminum framed, aftermarket Ohlins shock equipped, fuel injected, beadlocked, nerfed, number plated, tethered, Tag bar equipped, Arens steering step equipped quad riding on holeshots to ever be cheap. Ever.

Just FYI.
The Honda carb is not a CV style , like on the Z400 or a Bomb. Its a Keihin butterfly design, similar to the 400ex carb.
I agree with the above posts about R&D, but what we don;t know is what kind of R&D was put into the engine for durability in a quad chassis. I think even Yamaha guys would admit that most likely, Honda did more of that than Yamaha. Most likely Yamaha built it a little more on the edge. I think I like both ideas!
You all know that the Honda will win the shootouts, its the new one and we all know how that works. Wait till then to hear the "Honda Die Hards" go nuts.
Bubba, you think you are annoyed now! Just Wait.

Crackhead, Ive ridden on the trails, dunes and mountains against a bunch of 400ex's, he!!, I even own a 400ex. The ex can not hang with a raptor in any terrain. Get real dude, the ex is so underpowered compared to the newer hi-performance quads its not even funny. The ex is a sport quad, not a hi-performance quad. The ex's handling will not make up for its powerplant against the raptor.

You are all full of it!! I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to pick up my blue '04 Breeze! Check the freaking specs on this BADA$$:

124cc, 4-Stroke Single, Air Cooled, SOHC
Bore x Stroke 49 x 66mm
Compression Ratio 9.0:1
Suspension/Front Independent Double Wishbone, 2.8”
Suspension/Rear Swing Arm, 3.2”
Brakes/Front Dual Sealed Drum
Brakes/Rear Sealed Drum

I've already ordered 28" Outlaws for it. We'll see who's first around the track. Eat my dust, losers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ridley,

Everyone has their preference. I am not one to be mainstream and wouldn't buy the new Yami just for that reason - I don't want to go riding and see 5-10 others just like mine each time. That sucks. Makes you feel like yours is nothing special. Just my opinion though. I can't say the Cdale was a better bike. As far as the money issue, I agree. But I would have never paid close to retail for a Cdale, I just don't have that kind of money. I did but my practically new Blaze for a few grand less than the new YFZ and I have all the parts that you need to add to make the Yami actually "Race Ready" from the get go. Wouldn't be an advantage if I would have paid the sticker 10,500 for my Blaze but I paid $4600 and it already has some nice effects to it. I'll have Ohlins piggybacks with Gibson +3s, a DuraBlue 2+2, and hipers all the way around, plus still be able to have it as a stock Blaze for the woods with the stock A-arms and Ohlins - for less than the cost of the new Yami. That, in my eyes, is an excellent deal considering what I'll have - essentially an MX machine and a GNCC machine all in one. With a few simple other mods I think that I'll be keeping up with the YFZ's just fine - Trinity Pipe and an airbox change to give another 3-4 HP. So I won't go as far to say that the Blaze was the best way to go as far as performance, but for what I want, I'll be plenty satisfied.

Also you said they were very heavy? My Blaze weight is only 25 lbs more than the YFZ and that is with nerfs etc. When you get the Yami ready for competition I'll be they aren't that far apart. As far as power goes, the Cdale has a lot of potential and that is being worked on all the time. As far as reliability goes, if you do the updates people seem to have ran without problems quite often. I plan on getting my crank balanced and some other reliability issues looked at to ensure I did what I could to make this thing last. For a poor college kid the money I'll have invested doesn't come around easy or often.

Oh, and as far as dollar to dollar right this very day - I sure hope that those pipe/filtered/jetted YFZ's don't find a $3500 dollar brand new Cannibal with a $3000 trip to Southbaymoto - or they are in for a sad day in the lives of a Yami owner

Wait one second. First this is a Yamaha Section not Honda. Also if only you would wake up and realize that Honda will never beat Yamaha again. Sorry to say. Actually wait, Honda never did beat Yamaha yet and never will. The TRX450R is nothing. The YFZ450 will still take the Honda, and i don't think there is a quastion about that. So this subject can be dropped. All honda's are for *****'s. And that why I don't drive one.
