I have not actually tried running without the needles but I did try to shortening some needles to were at full throttle they would actually clear the fuel supply jet completely but it would be almost impossible to get it jetted for this to actually work. I pretty much new before I tried it but it was something to do at the time just for kicks but it would run OK until WOT were the needles cleared and it dumped way to much fuel into the engine at once. I guess you could run enough gas/additive or alcohol/nitromethane mix for this much fuel being fed into the engine but then the other circuits of the carb would have to be modded too for it to maybe work; a big maybe.
