K&N vs. Uni Filter

I had a completely stock '01 Banshee with a stock (and extremely dirty) filter, and my neighbor had a Stock '01 Banshee with a K&N filter. Mine was faster....not sure why. We run the same gas/oil mix. My tires were 20" and his were 22" the first few times we raced...I was faster acceleration AND top end. I put on 22" tires a couple weeks later and the results were exactly the same.

I had a K&N on the Rappy before and I always wash and oil my filter before each time out, but I would notice fine powdered dust on the intake boots every time, here's an example of how bad the dust here that if someone is riding in front of you you wont see unless you stay back at least sixty feet and still after a couple of hours I get a bad nasal headache.
