To Wolverine or not to Wolverine?

Boy, the Wolverine is looking better all the time! I'm going to hit a local dealer in the next couple of days to check one out up close and personal. I appreciate everyone's feedback and am quite suprised at how positive everyone is on this bike.

Well I checked out the Wolverine today after work. Nice bike! The local dealer sales guy even said they would match (or beat) any legitimate price. That helps because I may not have to drive 90 minutes to the best price dealer I've found.
Now my concern is seeing in other posts that Yamaha doesn't always stand behind their product with extended warranty claims being denied. Do any of you have experience with this? I'd hate to end up with problems after paying extra for an extended warranty only to be denied a claim.

I personally would not go with the extended warranty. If I'm not wrong the only things that it covers is internal oiled parts. I've had mine 5+ years with no internal problems. All I have had to replace is brakes and bearings the usual parts that wear when they are run in mud and water. My Wolvy came with a 6 month warranty but nothing went wrong so I really can't say how good their warranty service is.

Thanks for your opinion on the warranty, Shastadog. I'm still tossing that aspect of the purchase around. Obviously dealers want you to buy it because they make money on them and their selling point is that it adds to resale value. I guess that could be true if you sell it before the warranty expires. But if you keep it long enough it is a moot point anyway. I priced a warranty on the Yamaha-USA web site and it was $578/3 years for the Wolverine. That's a lot! I can probably get a better deal at a dealer but ouch, what a shock.

Well, I have never bought a new quad, but I have read several posts that indicate that Yamaha may not be the best on upholding warranties. But, it seems that it is more of a problem at the dealer level. If you get a dealer that is willing to WORK to get the warranty validated you are ok. If the dealer is the type that blows you off, your in trouble. With the wolverine you probably dont need it, in my opinion. And as for adding to the resale I doubt youll be selling That much money is almost enough to buy a 424 and a DGL.
