I lost one of my Raptor keys yesterday,and Im not sure if I should just get another key(for if I lose the last one) or get the whole thing again(the key-hole thingy+keys).But I dont know if its worth it because I once heard that you can start the Raptor with another Raptor key,so if I get the whole thing(new)and someone has the old key they could still start it.Its a 2004.Please post what you think I should do...

 

i dont know, but as to the myth of you being able to start it with another raptor key, i dont think thats true, i could be wrong. but i mean if all rappy keys are identical, then i could go to a yamaha dealer and drive off with all their raptors if i had the key to one. i think that you can start a raptor with some keys, like maybe instead of making every key different, but without having them all be the same, they made a few different ones, so maybe one out of 4 keys you try would work on your raptor. something like that possibly. anyway, if i was you id have them make a new key, identical to the one you still have.

 

I don't know how many variations there are to the Raptor keys, or Yamaha keys in general... but I have not come across any that worked in another bike and I've tried about 6 of em. I was curious too!!

Get another key for the setup you have.

I just bought another raptor (for my wife) and my salesman said that my key code is on my spare key, I havent looked yet, but thats what he said.

 

Well thanx,Ill go tomorrow and order another,and get back to feeling sorry for myself.Can I also get the piece of black rubber that goes on the key,or dont they sell those?

lol we hotwired ours for a day till mom came back with keys... Dont try this if you dont know how you can get hurt or screw up elec system

I could be wrong....but I heard that Yamaha has around 70 different versions of the Raptor key. On a related subject, I read in the local paper a few months back where a lady here in Apple Valley just got out of her eye appointment and called her friend to drive her home because she couldn't drive. Her friend showed up and mistakenly was able to drive the wrong car home. It was a Ford Taurus and they were the same color. After getting home..the husband realized they had the wrong car and went back to the doctors office where the police were taking the report for a stolen car. After explaining that it was an honest mistake and tried both keys in both cars..they had a good laugh and went on there ways. One car was purchased one town over in Victorville and the other was bought back east. Strange story...but kinda makes ya wonder....[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]
