Hi,

A friend of mine is thinking about getting a Grizzly but is stand offish because of the Heat problems he hears about.
I am asking on his behalf for info on hot climate Grizzly owners and the things they do if need be to keep the bad boy from burning your legs.
We know about the insulation of the fuel line.
What do you guys say?

600cc + no water cooling = too dang hot
all the dealers I went to when buying my artic cat even said the motor got very hot on your legs I am sure though some of the people who own one could tell you better but it is an awful big motor for no water cooling...

the over heating isnt near as bad as every one makes it out to be. all yu have to keep an eye out for is to make sure the oil cooler doesnt get clogged up with too much mud. the same thing a watercooled has to worry about with their radiator. the heat on the legs isnt that bad either.a trick i learned was to go to your auto zone store and buy some "engine cool", same thing high-lifter sells. $15 for a bottle. since I put that in my bike i cant make it get hot.

Here you go. 1, If its a 98 model Griz buy a oil cooler lifter, and heat guards from your yamaha dealer. 2, Install a switch to turn your fan on automatially. 3, Buy a fan that is alot bigger(you can get one at your nearest truck parts store. 4, Buy the cooling kit from Highlifter to also help with the cooling of the motor. As a further note liquid cooling isnt quite the best of cooling. My buddies Polaris 500 had his radiator clogged with mud and it overheated. While mine was also clogged and never overheated or missed a lick. That shows everyone that the Griz is very reliable and durable.Out and Over!!!!

I agree, One guy over heats and 5000 think they have bum machines. Plus that one guy problably runs the dunes of Arizona all day. Who wouldn't overheat in that kind of heat.

No really, I have never had a problem with my grizzly heating up. Yes it does put off some heat with the side shields off but not as much as people make it out to be. Heck in the winter you will sure appreciate it. I pulled my side covers off for the winter and boy did it make for more comfortable riding.

Mine has never overheated yet. And I pull a 17ft Bass Tracker with a 40hp merc all over the place. I am talking like 8 miles up and down all kind of hills. I worry about stopping but not about overheating.

Tell you Friend to go for it, He won't be disappointed.

Listen, tell your friend to go for it. The beast puts off a little heat but its not going to burn your legs. I have heard alot of folks talk'n about the heat and they are on different quads
(imagine that). NO REGRETS HERE.
