Default 400ex vs warrior power-wise?

Okay,
I know that stock, the ex will have better and more power than the warrior, but is it that much of a difference? I have ridden a warrior, and liked the power (it was my first time so it seemed like a lot then), but I know I will grow out of it. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help.

Yes there's a big difference in the power of the two. I think the EX makes something in the neighborhood of 26?HP whereas the Warrior puts out around 18HP at the rear wheels. Piped may pick up a ponie or two but not enough without serious engine work.

well.. my freidn has a 400ex and i got a warrior both r stock.. we've raced i won but then he kicked my *** several times i think if i got a dif front sprocket and bored it to like 380 or even 370 it would beat it no prob but otherwise there fairly equal now 400ex is mainly only good for racing it';s fairly unstable ( i think) warrior is very stable.... if your gonan b doing LOTS of trail riding get a warrior and mod it if your racing and trailing buy a wariror that's already been modded if your jsut full on racing buy a 400ex if u like lotsa wheelies get a 400ex but when a warrior gets in a wheelie u can hold it ALOT long.. ya...

Nah...having owned both...and still have the 400ex...there is not much comparison in any area....the 400ex is a much better overall machine....Not sure what the conditions of the race listed above between the warrior and 400...but someone was not doing something right..the 400 will eat it up all day long and do it with much more comfort....and talk about jumping or ruff stuff..400 again

I work on my brother's Warrior and ride with him all the time. I can't imagine anyone seriously putting it into the 400ex category especially saying it is unstable. I doubt you could find another person on the forum that would back this statement. My brother usually invites a friend along to ride his Warrior so he gets to ride my spare 400ex. It doesn't have an equivalent level of suspension for trail riding either.

hes not lying about the stable part. Ride 75 on a warrior then 75 on a 400ex through a field and see which one feels safer. Its a product of the same things that make the warrior handle bad. Heavy, long and narrow, etc.. Stock though a warrior dosent have the power to get into the speeds where that nice bit starts to show.

If you were going to ride trails I say go with the warrior. I have had mine for 2 years now and have not had any problems with it. Warriors have plenty of power for the trails and reverse. (which I couldn't go with out, In the woods) its up to you but every machine has there goods and bads its just what you want out of a quad. The 400ex does have more power put if you want a 400 get a kfx or the susuki they have more power and reverse. Just my 2 cents.

You would be crazy to buy a warrior over a 400ex. the ex is way faster, handles way better, I could go on and on but the only reason you should buy a warrior is if you really need reverse. I actually have a warrior, but would trade it for a 400 any day.
