Parking brake

Buy the aftermarket perch ($20 or so) the block off plate should come with it. Then you just disconnect the old perch and install the new one and put the block off plate on your brake caliper. I'm certainly not a mechanic but I did it with no problem. When you disconnect the wires on the perch it will make it so you can't start it in gear. Maybe there is a way to by-pass that, but I see it as a blessing not a problem.

Buy the rear brake perch for a 2000 Yamaha Kodiak. It will allow you to leave the clutch safety switch in place.
If you don't, connect the two wires together and it will start in any gear (just remember to pull the clutch in). You don't want a quad that forces you to find neutral to start. This is too dangerous for the riders behind you who get stuck in a bad situation because you stall and can't find neutral.
Cascade (RockyMountainATV sells them) makes one of the best brake blockoff plates I've seen. It has nice recessed bolts and comes with a rubber o-ring washer. Some of the others like Nacs require factory bolts and silicon sealant to seal it.
