That's a tough one.....each platform has distinct advantages over the other. The biggest difference I've noticed is that bikes beat ya up much less - much more fluid. Often times ya just gotta grunt your way through on a quad - bikes are nicer for picking smooth lines. Now sand washes/dunes are a whole different world on a bike - it's work !
One thing I know for sure - crashin on either sucks ! I'm still going pretty slow on the bike so the drops arent too severe and I DONT-can't- JUMP (desert guy - no MX)! I'd be terrified to ride at "my quad speed" on the bike for now. I'm really enjoying learning on the bike so even goin slow it's pretty exciting.
If somebody said "pick one now and ride fast" it'd be the quad simply because I know how to ride it better because of experience. In 5-10 years, it might be a different answer !?
In general I see lots of virtures about bikes. At this point I'm just thankful I've got my health to allow me to try both !

It's tough for a bike to beat a quad because the quad hooks up so much better in the start and the hole shot is where races are won and lost. Side by side, I think the 250F will run very close to a Raptor. I guess I can say that because I had a 250F and sold it to buy my Raptor. Riding a 4-stroke dirt bike is not the same as a 2-stroke. They handle differently and you have to ride them differently. After the 250F came out and guys were getting their butts kicked in the 125 class, they went out and bought the 250F and couldn't ride it because they tryed to ride them like a 2-stroke. It would take too long to explain all the differences.
You won't be dissapointed with the 250F.
As far as getting hurt on a bike versus a quad - I crashed on the 250F and broke my left leg and my ankle and separated my left shoulder so I sold the bike for the Raptor. Then I crashed on the Raptor and broke my right leg and ankle and dislocated my right shoulder. So it's not a matter of how bad you are going to get hurt, it's a matter of what side.
