Do you really think that a CDI for a Raptor in California is different then all the other states?

 

It doesn't seem like they do. Here's why. Both the California and non-Cali 2001 raptors use the same 5LP-8540-00-00 Yamaha CDI. After that, yamaha makes no distinctions on the 2002-present raptors whether they are Cali or not and all use the 5LP-85540-20-00 Yamaha CDI. So, it seems to me that all 01's use one CDI and all others use another. These numbers came from the parts finder on Yamaha's website. Hope this helps.

Thanks. Do you think they do anything different for California quads?

 

I do know that there are some extra sensors hooked to the carbs on the cali's. The only california bike we have ever had is a big bear and that thing was a lemon. Never could make it run right. Whether or not it had anything to do with the Cali specs, who knows. I know I check before I buy.

So your saying there is a some kind of sensor on the carb. Can you tell me if it can be removed and what is for?

I am not sure what it is for. I will see if I can get ahold of a manual for a cali to see if there are some differences. I will let you know.
