Top end Raptor or YFZ

Dropping 1 tooth on the front is not going to cause 8-10 mph difference, your more likely looking at about a decrease of 2-3 mph. I would say generally speaking a stock raptor is going to top out around 72-76 mph (depending on rider weight), dropping down to a 12t front you should still be in the upper 60s to low 70s mph.

that is odd that you beat him off the line we are seeing those 450's jump off the line like a rocket then you have to reel them in. maybe he geared up and didn't tell you, i know a lot of guys that say there stock but have more than most. some game huh?

Sandman, I am starting to think that these 450's are being hyped a little more than they should be. First of all, I haven't lost to one yet. Secondly, Every raptor I have race has give me a better race then a yfz. I think that the only advantage of a yfz is the handling on a MX track. I routinely see preds pulling them too! I truely feel that if you put a wider axle and the same supension on a raptor, that a raptor would beat the yfz on the track too. If the 450 motor is so great then I would like to see it installed in a raptor frame and raced against a raptor 660. Then put the 660 in a yfz frame and have it race a 450 yfz. If it is so good then it should be able to beat the 660 motor in both frames. Yamaha just needed a quad to compete in the 440 class, thats it.

I have seen some pretty fast ones, Buddah on the board here has a quick yfz. He beat my banshee up sand mtn utah, and my banshee always beat my baja. I heard the baja x is faster though.
Its all good, they are all nice machines, but the yfz's can run pretty good.
